The Tilda-lamp

A few years ago, I got these nice Tilda-fabrics for my birthday. I've hesitated for a long time to actually make use of them as I was fearing that I might make a mistake when sewing them and that I'd waste them - you know, Tilda fabrics are not too cheap. ;-)
So, they've been waiting in my fabric-box.

However, I've always planned to cover a lamp with one of the fabrics.
One day last week I've seen a cheap lamp in beige in my local drugstore and I just thought: Now or never!

And, ta-daa, here it is:

Now I just need to find a nice place for it...

Fürs Naschkätzchen

Simply take some beautiful sort of paper (old-fashioned or not, your school-report or not) and wrap it, using glue, around a timer. I used a timer which was for free due to being advertisement.

The paper I used had been used for wrapping chocolate by a bakery. I hope this bakery doesn't get angry with me for using their paper!

I have to admit that I like the detail on the back of the book where it says "Zartbitter" (plain chocolate).

Btw, "Naschkätzchen" can maybe be translated as something close to "sweet toothy".

New Tilda fabrics!

A few days after Christmas I found that I might upload a photo of my new Tilda fabrics - thank you, Fibi!
I presume that some of them are even from the new spring-collection...

Now I just have to find out what to make from them!! Yeah, tough questions... :P

Ideas are welcome! :D

P.S.:
Btw, this is what I am spending my time with currently...
Looks as if it's a joy to write this paper? -.-

She's doing the Stamps!

Taking a break from exam-studying and diploma-paper-writing I am preparing some Christmas presents.
I believed this to be a good opportunity to try out my new stamp-set that I bought in London last weekend.

Do you want to know what I stamped?

A nice CD-cover. :-)

Rain and umbrellas remind me of this:

(Or rather: this song reminds me of what you can see above.)

London Calling

Yes, yes, I know that this title has been over-used but today I do not have that much time.

Just a quick note on what I bought during my weekend in London.

Some clothes but also some nice things for being creative (IF I just had the time - there are too many UFOs around at the moment as well as too many ideas!). xD

clockwise, starting on the left:
1) Moomins Cook Book (from Brick Ln Book Shop, bought at The Water Poet Christmas fair)
2) Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (from Liverpool St Station)
3) white vintage-dress (no real vintage but still nice, from Spitalfields Market Vintage Fair)
4) blue & white striped shirt with lace part in the neck (from Forever 21, Oxford St)
5) rainy stamp-set (from the V&A, Cromwell Rd)

And this is a nice Christmas-impression from London:

Abigail, the duck

I would like to introduce you to Abigail.

Abigail likes the afternoon-tea, biscuits and flower-bouquets.

First and foremost, she likes the English weather - which is no wonder as she's a duck.
However, this is also why I bring her to England today - to my friend Vivien who will spend some time with her in London, watching the raindrops and the pretty British park-lakes.

edit: She's home! (With a real old-fashioned English garden in the background.) :-)

Long time no see...

So, what happened in the meantime? I've been abroad doing a placement on the island of Fuerteventura and not doing any tinkering (which I really missed during the time).

However, plans for knits were made in the hot Fuerteventura sun - e.g., I am currently knitting a wrapped sleeves-scarf (see the original right here). You can now also follow the process of any knits at ravelry (if you like you can follow me here).

However, here's what I did this weekend. I visited the designPavillon which is a Christmas Market for Design (which you can see here) in Hanover.
There they sold so wonderfully cute things and it was so difficult to decide for only a few things!!
xD

Here's what I bought:

(as you may notice I possess an affinity for animals and red stuff)

Bambi-necklace: Glückspilz Schmuck
Little Red Riding Hood button: Käselotti
heart-letter stamp: Frau Börd

heart ring: from Gina Tricot (not from the design-market)
red nail polish, colour: "Going to the Opera": from H&M (not from the design-market, either)
(I just thought they fit so nicely to what I bought...)

I can also recommend Anique (see here) as I nearly bought one of her necklaces, as well, and it was only due to my fault of money that I did not.
Last year my sister bought an Alice in Wonderland-necklace from her.

So, next time you will again see more of what I did.

Until then, stay warm and take care! :-)

And thanks for reading.
