Carrot Cup Cakes

As the Easter season is arriving, flowers start blooming, and the sun is warming our skin, I let the spring into our kitchen (and tummies) and baked some carrot cup cakes!

Shame on me, I have to admit that I used a baking mixture... (I'm not that gifted when it comes to the kitchen).

However, that's why I'm allowed to say that they are damn delicious, haha!! :D

These buttons are from a little shop or designer in Berlin. However, I got them at Dockville Festival, that's why I don't remember the name of the store. 

They look like the prettiest buttons I've ever seen, don't they?

A thought about Yuka and Yoshimi

I waited with this blog-entry because I thought it might sound artificial or like a thing everybody does these days.

However, my sister and me want to express our compassion with Yuka and Yoshimi. 

Yuka, who has been my pen-pal for many years now, lives in Osaka and is safe. 

Yoshimi, who my sister and me have made friends with many years ago, is fortunately abroad at the moment and not in Chiba. 
Both have not been affected directly by the tsunami, however we all feel very worried about the situation in Japan and would like to express our thoughts.

When Yuka visited me in 2007, she brought with her this book which includes beautiful photographies of Japan. 

Among it is a photo showing the beautiful landscape of Matsushima which is now probably destroyed by water masses:

We can only wish Yuka, Yoshimi, their families and friends, and the whole Japanese population the best of luck and health - and that somehow they can return to their "normal" lives.

Grandma's Kitten Slippers

...that's what I thought might be a nice name for this new pair of Tilda-slippers. 

 

They were made for a friend of mine who likes cats. 

I added a nice white-blue border which creates a nice "grandma" look but which is still lovely, I think. 

You can buy the cats buttons in a cute shop in Hanover called "Dear Lilly". 

They have plenty of these kinds of buttons, borders and fabric.

An obscure UFO is crossing my way...

What have I been doing all those months? Hmmm...at least today I was creating a so-called "UFO" (unfinished object).

Yep, this is what happened when I tried to iron some vlieseline onto fabric... Unfortunately, I did not remember the instructions from the last time

so I mistreated the iron and created a lovely smell in our cellar room...hehe

However, now I replaced the little rag of slipper and maybe soon you might be able to see (hehe) yet another pair of white-blue slippers. No strawberries this time, though! ;-)
